  • Class of 2021 TN Promise Mandatory Meeting
    • now available in tnAchieves CONNECT!
    • Discusses scholarship info, requirements, deadlines, financial aid, enrollment, etc.
    • you MUST watch the 40-minute webinar in its entirety and answer the follow-up questions by 05-31-21 to remain eligible for TN Promise
    • can be viewed from any device

  • Rising Junior & Senior 2021-2022 Registration:
    • Guidance counselors will schedule meetings in March to select courses for rising juniors.
    • Students may review the Program of Studies to prepare

2/1/2021 Updates:

  • CHROMEBOOKS FOR 11th GRADE-
    • All juniors will need to come to school tomorrow, Friday, February 5th, between 11:30am and 5:30pm to pick up their new chrome books. You will not need a printed device agreement form. Instead, your parent or guardian must be with you to sign electronically. If you have an old device, please bring it fully charged with the power cord. 
    • You may park in the CTE parking lot between the CTE building and football practice field. Please enter the main doors near the flagpole.
  • SENIOR PICTURE - 2/4 during 2nd period
    • dress warmly!
  • AP Testing Fees - ALTERED DATES
    • Final deadline for AP fees is Thursday, Feb 18!!
    • Payments may be remitted to Mrs. Cope between 8:00-11:00am in 402 on the following dates ONLY:
      • Tuesday, Feb 16
      • Thursday, Feb 18 (final deadline)
    • If sending cash, it must be exact; Make checks payable to CHS
    • If students unsure of remaining balance, please see Mrs. Cope

  • CHROMEBOOK DISTRIBUTION SCHEDULE
    • Sophomores
      • If you have not exchanged old device for a  new device, you receive a device agreement during CM on Tuesday, Jan 26
      • You must submit signed form to 1st period teacher on Wednesday, Jan 27
    • Freshman
      • If you have not exchanged your old device for a new device, you will be called to library on Tuesday, Jan 26
      • Bring  your old device and power cord

1/21/2021 Updates:

  • Council Meeting Schedule - Tuesday, Jan 26
  • Seniors who have not completed FAFSA
    • send your guidance counselor an email to make appt for help completing the FAFSA - do not go to guidance without appointment!
    • TN Promise FAFSA deadline - March 1

1/18/2021 Updates:

  • VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION FOR ALL STUDENTS extended through Jan 22
    • Students will return to in-person learning on Monday, Jan 25
  • Niswonger Students
    • Friday, Jan 22 is the last day to drop a course and not be charged
    • ALL courses are open.  If you have not received an email from their teacher (1) check your spam/junk folder and then (2) click "Trouble Ticket" on the Niswonger site
    • There will be an informational Parent/Student Webinar this Thursday, Jan 21.  Webinar link is not mandatory, but highly encouraged.  Link has been emailed and will be on social media.
      • Last name A-K log in at 5pm
      • Last name L-Z log in at 6pm
  • If you missed pickup for second semester materials, please contact your classroom teachers
  • CHROMEBOOKS!!
    • Any 9th or 10th grade student who has not exchanged their old device for a new chromebook or who has never had a school-issued device should report for pickup during the following times
      • Wednesday, Jan 20 (8:00am-3:00pm)
      • Thursday, Jan 21 (10:00am-5:00pm)
  • Old devices must be fully charged and with power cord.  Parent/guardian must be present.  Park at library.  Call Dr. Booker if you have further questions.

12/16/2020 Updates:

  • VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION FOR ALL STUDENTS through Thursday, December 18 and January 4-8
    • January 4-8 Small Group Intervention: Special Needs students, those needing additional support, and those directly contacted by school site staff will attend in-class instruction the week of January 4, as directed by school site personnel. If you are contacted regarding the need to have your child on site the first week of January, please make arrangements for them to attend. Transportation will be provided.
  • Semester Exams will be virtual
    • Students check your Google Classroom for more information
  • Electronic Device Exchange/Return Times & Info (UPDATED):
    • For any student who does NOT currently have a device, Chromebooks will be distributed on Wednesday, December 16 from 8:00am-1:00pm and on Thursday, December 17 from 1:00pm-5:00pm in the school library
    • Device upgrades for 9th and 10th graders has been postponed to January
  • Statewide Dual Credit makeup exams have been postponed until January

    • Available Dec 16-17 & Jan 4-8 from 11:00am-1:00pm (free for children age 0-18)

  • EOC Testing has completed!

  • Semester Exams
    • 4th & 6th period exams are 12/16 during regularly scheduled class time
    • 1st & 3rd period exams are 12/17 during regularly scheduled class time
  • Statewide Dual Credit Exams:
    • Statistics - Friday 12/11 8:00am
    • Sociology, Pre-Cal, Intro to Business - Monday 12/14 (check with classroom teacher for specific times)
  • Electronic Device Exchange/Return Times & Info:
    • 9th graders are receiving new Chromebooks! - Bring your technology agreement (signed by parent), old Chromebook, and charging cord on Tuesday 12/15 in order to exchange
    • more information coming for 10th grader device upgrades
    • 9th & 10th grade eLearners will return Chromebooks on Wed., Dec. 16 from 3-5pm at the library or Thu., Dec 17 from 3-5pm at the library
    • 11th and 12th grade students will return Chromebooks after Christmas Break
    • ALL early graduates MUST return their issued Chromebook before they leave on 12/16 or 12/17

    • Wednesday, Dec 2: US History EOCs for eLearners ONLY 8:00-10:15am (report at 7:45)
    • Wednesday, Dec 2: Biology EOCs for eLearners ONLY 12:00-1:30pm (report at 11:45)
    • Thursday, Dec 3: English 9 & English 10 for eLearners ONLY 8:00am-2:00pm (report at 7:45)
    • Friday, Dec 4: Algebra I, Algebra II, & Geometry for eLearners ONLY 8:00-11:30am (report at 7:45)
  • ALL Students (with exception of eLearners attending EOC exam times) will attend virtually Dec 1-4
  • EOC Test Dates - UPDATED!!
    • Monday, Dec 7: final EOC review with classroom teachers
    • Tuesday, Dec 8: English 9 & English 10 EOCs

  • SDC Testing dates/times for LeRoy, Hughes, Kooienga, and Kendrick did NOT change from original schedule.
  • Fall Semester Testing Window: Monday, Nov 30 - Thursday, Dec 17
    • This includes exams for all Statewide Dual Credit Courses, Tennessee End-of-Course exams, and semester exams
    • Please note there is no virtual option for state-mandated standardized testing and all eLearners are required to come sit for exams at their designated time (See https://cherokee.hck12.net/testingassessment for schedule)

  • ACT Day for Seniors - Sept 22, 2020

    • Seniors:
      • Bring your ID
      • Arrive before 7:30am
      • Leave your cell phone at home or in vehicle.  Do not bring cell phones to testing!
      • Calculators will be provided
      • If you want to leave school after testing is complete, you MUST turn a parent note into the office BEFORE testing starts
    • 9th, 10th, & 11th grade will attend school virtually

  • ALL STUDENTS GRADES 9-12 WILL RETURN TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14!  We will not follow the original "X" and "Y" schedules, and ALL STUDENTS (with the exception of eLearners) will return.  Classes will be in-person Monday-Thursdays, and virtual on Fridays until Fall Break.  
  • SKYWARD INFORMATION VERIFICATION - Thus MUST be completed by Sept 14.  Students will not be able to leave school with anyone not on the approved pick-up list.  Students will not be able to see the nurse unless the online forms are completed.  If you are having trouble completing this at home, please call the school and ask for Melynda Williams.
  • UNDERCLASS PICTURE DAY - Any student who has not had their picture made, should come to the gym lobby between 8am-3pm on Tuesday, Sept 8.  Students who do not have a picture taken, will not appear in the yearbook.
  • PICTURE PROOFS - Available in the main office for pickup
